Thats a super sweet setup
I got the new electronics installed at Yellowfin and love the new layout. They used a new dash insert and everything fits as designed and the entire setup is much more user friendly. The new Garmin 7212 is sweet too.

That really does look nice, what year model do you have I am looking to buy a 2002 right now and would want to upgrade parts of the boat also.
Mine is a 2002 that was repowered in 2007 with twin 275hp Verados.
She runs at about 60mph at WOT and cruises nicely at 40mph with 1.7-1.8 mpg.
I just bought it in May 2010 and had the electronics replaced in October.
The Garmin touchscreen is so easy to use and is so much brighter than the old Furuno.
What parts of your 2002 are you wanting to upgrade?
Electronics turned out great! How do you like the Verados on there? I'm looking at a few different year 31YF's, any thing to pay attention to in the earlier models?
It's a great boat and is the same hull as the 29'.
The boat sits a bit low in the stern with the Verados since they are heavier than the original 2 stroke Optimaxes . The Verados are smooth , quiet and powerful but I wouldn't shy away from one with 2 strokes if it's in good shape.
Be sure to get a survey to confirm that you have a solid boat. It's money well spent.
Richard & Wiley have been great to work with and they treated me like I was the original owner even though I was the third.
The boat looks great with the updated electronics!

I hope to sea trial in the next week or so. Newer model etec's hopefully will not squat in the stern. The electronics are the same vintage (2002) so I am hoping to do something similar to what you have done. Garmin is on my short list. Do you have the original fuel tanks in your boat? I wasn't sure if they were an issue and planned to contact yellowfin prior to purchasing to determine if I should expect to change.
My tanks are the original aluminum and I've not had any fuel problems.
Richard or Wiley can help you figure out if the boat you are looking at has fiberglass or aluminum. There's an easy repair for the fiberglass tanks if necessary . It had to do with a coating that is not compatible with e-10.
My previous boat had a 225 HP E-Tec and I was very happy with it. I wouldn't have minded if my Yellowfin had E-Tec power instead of the Verados since they are lighter and just as quiet. No smoke unlike the old 2 strokes.
You should go to a marine store display and play around with the various brands of electronics to see what you prefer. I found that I could use the garmin touchscreen very easily and rarely ever need to consult the owners manual because it's so intuitive. That really helps me out on the water since I can get the info that I need quickly without having to try to remember the sequence of button pushing like on my old Furuno. The screen is much brighter too . Good luck.
Very nice set up. I too have an 2002 31' and need to upgrade from the original Furuno 1850 with a thru hull transducer. Were you able to just replace head unit and not the transducer as well? I would like to plug and fish if that is possible with a new unit. Any help appreciated!
