    Default New 39 HUNTRESS

Hey guys, just ordered a 39 the other day, I am working with Max King Marine out of VA beach and Wylie. This is my third Yellowfin so I kind of know the routine but at this time only have a build slot so it's a clean slate and looking for advice on power, tackle storage, electronics, tower options, options etc.

I do most of my fishing between the Chesapeake bay and Mid Atlantic offshore, tuna, white marlin, stripers etc. We have long runs and speed is needed to cover ground as we go when the bite is on where ever it is within range.

I had a 42 and a 24 bay, the 39 I think is going to be the perfect fishing machine.

Any advice would be appreciated, pictures even better.

    Thank you!!

Here are a couple of questions I was hoping you guys could shed light on.

Have people used the 42' leaning post in the 39', I thought I read that on a post somewhere so they could use 3 Todd seats across. I am thinking two Todd's and a glove box between with cup holders.

I keep hearing about the New Mercury's coming out at Miami, can't wait to see what that is but from what I hear it's at least 350 HP. From all I read online about the 39, it seems to run more efficient and faster with quad set ups. From where I live we have to cover a lot of ground at times to reach the fish, when the weather is right I am thinking this boat would cruise near 60 with quad 350's and for offshore trips I could throttle back to what ever the seas would allow and sip the fuel. I owned a 42 previously with trip 350 Yamaha's had a full tower and loaded, .7 mpg was about average, if the weather got rough I was seeing .5 and the engines were straining the entire time it seemed. After 580 hours the center engine went, I sold the boat not long afterwards but kept in touch with the new owner, it happened two more times center engine. Although being totally against quads for fear of taking up the transom, I forced myself to start reading the posts about them and the positive performance results are convincing that this boat should have quads unless 400hp trips were available. I am planning to go to the Miami show and see what Mercury has to offer, see if the 350's are real maybe 400's then decide what power, the boat is a clean slate at the moment so I have some time. Do you guys have any recommendations here?

By the way, I have a 42' judge Sportfish for sale, hell of a nice boat if you guys know anyone MaxKing Marine Has it on his website. I am more of a center console guy....

I was thinking of the 42 leaning post in my new 39. I am hearing if you do 3 seats you have to put your steering wheel in the center??

I am leaning toward triple Yamaha 350's. I am worried about quads barking too much on the outside engines. I did test a 39 recently with triple Yamaha 350's and it ran fairly strong. It topped out at 65 and reached 61 fairly easy.

Believe it or not, it also runs ok on 3 300s. A little slow getting on plane but once going, it's a 50 mph boat. I think the quad verados ran best though. I'd be a little nervous buying anything new without proven performance for a bit. How about twin 557s?

    Dennis,

What did the 39 with the triple 300's top out at? I am considering going with triple 300's and hopefully Yamaha will come out with 400's in a couple of years and I will switch out to them then. Thoughts?

I got a ride on the UA 39' yesterday with the new quad 350's and it was amazing, mid range power on the new 350's are night and day it got to 71mph on a quick sprint. I own a 36' now and I am tore between a used 39' or building a new one. Are these builds taking all of 10 months these days?

I rode on the under armour boat as well in Miami. I got the quad merc 350 boat to 70.9 mph. It is very quick with quads. The trip Yamaha 350 boat ran 65mph.

Run 3-300 Merc's on my 39, Great Boat, great engines. Top end 61.with small tower. Runs all day long easy @ 58. Great gas milage vs the Yami 350 had 42 also and the above statement is correct. .7 to .5 mpg
Thinking about repowering with new Merc 350, only because I want to

Maybe selling boat due to work offshore for next year. If anyone interested drop a line
