Been with this setup twice and have zero complaints. Good performance, great mileage and reliability.
brett,
what kind of speed were you seeing with this boat?

They were Hydromotive and I cannot remember what pitch. They worked really well though.

I have read that Yamaha has a new 300 four stroke thatis actually lighter than Verado. Have you looked at that motor?

The real question remains: Is it really faster and more fuel efficient (like Yamaha is marketing it to be) than the 300 verado??? I suppose we will know sometime between April and June...

i think that some of the claims of the new Yamaha has some wording like "than any other V6 outboard and the Vrod is inline 6? I guess the real test is when they hit the market.

Is the 5.3 liter 300 hp Yamaha even as fast as a 300 Verado? I would believe the new 4.2 liter 300 hp Yamaha could be as fast as a 300 Verado top end on a light boat, but not as quick getting there. I will be very suprised if the 4.2 can come anywhere close to the hole shot and mid range power of the Verado. To push a bigger boat like 34'+ I'd still go with the 5.3 Yamaha or Verado. Something that doesn't need a ton of low end torque like a 23' or 29' Yellowfin or the 20'/24' hybrid/bay boats the 4.2 Yammy may be a good option.
