Has anyone heard rumor of Mercury producing 350 possibly 400 hp Verado to be announced at Miami? I know we have been hearing big power is coming for some time now but, I just ordered a 39 and am praying for trip 400's. I hear something is on it's way.

I am hearing that Mercury is going to have a non-racing 350 that runs on regular gas.

Thanks Brian. Like most I am not sure what to power it with, I had a 42 with trip 350's the center engine power head was replaced three times. I am hearing the new 350 Mercury might be a very good choice. A good buddy and south fla. Guide told me to go with Mercury and he is a avid life long Yamaha guy, we have had arguments over it!! And he is jumping ship because of lower unit issues on his 300's.
Anyway, do you have any preference or know of reasons to chose one over the other, trips or quad? I need speed because we travel long distances..... Thanks!

Tough decision....I have spoken to a lot of different people as well. Most that have had quads, have complained about issues with outside motors due to barking them so much. I am fairly sure I am going to go back with triple Yamaha 350's. I had that set up on my 36 and put over 1400 hours on them with no issues. I guess I was lucky after talking to others. The new Yamaha 350's are supposed to be 50 lbs or so lighter each compared to my 2011's. I did test drive a new 39 in November with triple Yamaha 350's and I was fairly impressed. Saw 65 and consistently 61-62. Hard decision. I would go with the trip 557's if they were not SO expensive and had more history to determine reliability over time.

Thank you, I appreciate the reply. I am going to go to Miami and see what new power comes out and take a hard look at quads, I have heard about barking in rough water.

I wouldn't worry about the lower units on the Yamaha f300's. They are bullet proof motors.

Merc 400 racing motors came out and merc 350's moved to standard production line. (Non-racing). 7 marine had a 627hp out that weighs the same as the 557 motor.
