    Default Jet Drive

Does anyone have a yamaha jet drive on their skiff? I would assume that you could get into shallow areas without worrying about the prop. I guess what are the major disadvantages with a jet drive? even though they may seem ideal for a shallow skiff

First off you will loose 1/3 of your power with a jet. Your 250Hp is now about 175hp.(90hp would be 65hp...etc)If you have any weeds in the area you are fishing the pump will suck them up and you will be dead in the water unless you have a kicker motor, or remove the grate and clear what ever is stuck. The jets are great for shallow water with hard or gravel/rock bottom.
